RAGE CRAFT
What happens when women stop swallowing their rage and start doing something creative with it?
Let's find out.
We talk a lot about women's empowerment, confidence and finding our voice. But how often do we actually get the space to explore what those things mean for us, away from the expectations, responsibilities and roles we carry every day?
That's where Rage Craft comes in.
Rage Craft is a series of creative workshops for women that brings feminism, self-expression and a healthy dose of rebellion to the craft table. Through hands-on creative activities, guided reflection and conversation, women are invited to explore the things that frustrate them, challenge the expectations placed on them, and reconnect with what matters to them.
We're not here to make pretty things and pretend everything is fine.
We're here to make things, ask questions, challenge a few rules and have a bloody good time doing it.
Because sometimes, a little creative rebellion is exactly what you need.
SO, WHAT IS RAGE CRAFT?
There is something I know for sure: women carry a lot of rage.
Not necessarily the explosive, table-flipping kind. Often, it's much quieter than that.
It's the frustration of being expected to hold everything together. The mental load, the emotional labour, the double standards, the pressure to be agreeable, and the unspoken rules about how women should look, behave and take up space.
We're taught to be accommodating. To keep the peace. To consider everyone else's feelings. To be strong, but not intimidating. Confident, but not too much. Ambitious, but still available to everyone else.
And when something doesn't sit right, we're often encouraged to soften it, rationalise it, get over it or simply keep going.
But what if we got curious about that frustration instead?
What if we gave it somewhere to go?
I created Rage Craft as a safe space for women to acknowledge and express those feelings through creativity, without needing to explain themselves, share their personal history or turn the evening into a therapy session.
We cut, stick, paint, decorate, experiment and make things that mean something to us. We laugh, we reflect, we challenge a few expectations, and we give ourselves permission to express something that might otherwise stay bottled up.
The finished creation is yours to take home. So is whatever insight, reminder or new perspective you happen to discover along the way.
And no, you don't need to be angry to come along. You don't even need to consider yourself creative.
Curiosity is plenty.
THE BIGGER PURPOSE: MORE THAN MAKING THINGS
Here's the thing about self-expression: it's not just about what we create. It's also about whether we feel able to express ourselves in the first place.
When women are routinely expected to accommodate, care for others, manage competing demands and keep their frustrations to themselves, their own preferences, boundaries and ambitions can become harder to hear.
Rage Craft creates a small but intentional interruption to that pattern.
It gives women an opportunity to pause, get curious about their own responses, experiment with expressing their ideas and consider what they want to stand for.
A slogan on a tote bag might prompt a conversation about boundaries. A word on a mirror might become a reminder to question an old expectation. A page in a journal might help someone reconnect with an idea they've been putting off.
These moments aren't necessarily dramatic. They don't need to be.
Sometimes the value is in having the space to think differently. Sometimes it's in realising that other women recognise the same frustrations. Sometimes it's simply in remembering that creativity can be enjoyable, that your voice matters and that you don't need permission to express yourself.
Rage Craft doesn't promise to change someone's life in two hours. It offers something more grounded: an opportunity to practise self-expression, explore personal agency and reconnect with the things that matter to you.
And those small opportunities have a place in the bigger picture.
The aim isn't to make women better at coping with expectations that don't serve them. It's to create space for them to question those expectations, reconnect with themselves and choose how they want to move forward.
That is where Rage Craft connects with my wider work in courageous self-leadership.
Not fixing women. Not giving them another standard to live up to. But creating opportunities for women to recognise their own voice, make their own choices and take up space on their own terms.
WHY RAGE? WHY CRAFT?
Because women's rage doesn't exist in a vacuum.
It can be connected to the everyday experiences of being overlooked, underestimated, overworked, unheard or expected to make ourselves smaller for the comfort of others.
It can also be a signal that something matters to us. That a boundary needs attention. That an expectation deserves questioning. That we're ready to say something differently, make a different choice or stop accepting something simply because it's always been that way.
Rage Craft isn't about glorifying anger or telling women what they should be angry about. It's about creating room to notice, explore and express what's already there.
And creativity gives us a way in.
You don't need to find the perfect words. You can use colour, symbols, humour, collage, slogans, images or whatever takes your fancy. You can make a statement, create a reminder or simply enjoy making something with your hands.
There's no right way to do it, and there's no requirement to share anything you're not comfortable sharing.
This is self-expression without the performance.
Feminism without the lecture.
Self-leadership without another list of things you're supposed to improve about yourself.
And creativity without the pressure to be good at it.
WHAT HAPPENS AT A RAGE CRAFT WORKSHOP?
Each workshop has its own creative focus, but the intention remains the same: to give women a welcoming, low-pressure space to explore ideas, express themselves and make something that's uniquely theirs.
Expect hands-on creativity, guided prompts, thoughtful conversation, a little reflection and plenty of room to do things your own way.
Depending on the workshop, you might be decorating a tote bag, transforming a mirror or creating a journal that becomes your own personal space for ideas, plans, frustrations and future possibilities.
The activities are accessible and playful, but the conversations can be surprisingly meaningful.
You might arrive with a clear idea of what you want to make. You might arrive with absolutely no idea. Both are welcome.
What matters isn't what you produce. It's having the freedom to explore, experiment and express yourself along the way.
All materials are supplied, and no artistic experience is needed.
You can participate at your own pace, share as much or as little as you like, and leave the perfectionism at the door.
WHO IS RAGE CRAFT FOR?
Rage Craft is for adult women who want to try something different, explore their creativity and make a little room for themselves outside their usual roles and responsibilities.
It's for the woman who has plenty to say but doesn't always get the opportunity to say it. The woman who wants to reconnect with her creative side. The woman who's questioning a few expectations. The woman who just wants a fun night out that offers something a little more interesting than the usual routine.
You don't need to identify as a feminist, be familiar with personal development or have a particular view about rage.
You don't need to arrive with a problem to solve.
You can come because you're curious, because you want to make something, because the concept makes you laugh, or because something about it resonates with you.
Rage Craft is designed to be a safe, welcoming space where you can participate without pressure, explore ideas without judgement and express yourself in whatever way feels right for you.
You don't have to share your story to have a place here.
And you certainly don't have to make something beautiful to get something out of it.
A NOTE FROM TAO
I've spent years working alongside women, creating spaces for connection, conversation, creativity and change.
One thing I've noticed is how easily women can become disconnected from their own wants, ideas and voices while navigating the many expectations placed on them.
We're often very good at advocating for other people. We can recognise unfairness when it happens to someone else, encourage our friends to speak up and remind the women around us that they deserve better.
But when it comes to ourselves? That's not always so straightforward.
I created Rage Craft because I wanted to explore another way of approaching these conversations. Something less formal, less intimidating and a lot more hands-on.
I wanted to bring together my work in self-leadership with my love of art, creative expression and feminist conversations, and make it accessible to women who might never book a coaching session or attend a traditional personal development workshop.
You don't need to sit in a circle and share your deepest feelings to explore something meaningful. You can start with a tote bag, a mirror or a blank journal.
You can laugh. You can make a mess. You can question a few things. You can leave with something you've created and perhaps a new thought to take with you.
For me, that's the beauty of Rage Craft. It makes room for the serious stuff without taking the fun out of it.
And sometimes, that's exactly where a good conversation begins.
